It is a proven fact that many people struggle during interviews in spite of being eligible for the applied job. As a job seeker it’s important that you prove to the interviewer or the hiring manager that you are the best candidate for the available position. Being highly qualified doesn’t mean that you can be very successful in interviews and that is the reason why Brentford Services likes to provide you few interesting interview tips, be it personal or telephonic.

Some Do's and Don'ts during interviews are stated below:

Do’s:
  • Be prepared and confident: Preparation and confidence are vital before an interview. Get prepared practically by gather the requisite information that may be useful during the interview.
  • Be on time: First impression is the last impression. Whenever, you are called for a particular interview, make sure that you reach the interview location on time.
  • Make a first impression: Exterior demeanor and a pleasing personality helps when it comes to interviews. Make sure that you are formally and neatly dressed.
  • Practice possible questions: This is all guess work but it helps. Practice at home how you would answer in the interview with the help of a few sample questions.
  • Don’t talk too much: Speaking to the point and without interrupting the interviewer is important as it is two-way communication. Don’t be over-confident and do not make the common mistake of taking too much.
  • Be enthusiastic and positive: Be enthusiastic during interviews and avoid speaking against your previous employers.

Don’ts:
  • Being unprepared for the interview: Do not attend an interview without prior preparation and research. Preparation increases the confidence to face interviews at all levels.
  • Showing up too early or too late: Do not reach your interview destination too early or too late. That will give your interviewer a wrong impression. Keep in mind that punctuality matters in the corporate world.
  • Loose handshake and displeasing attitude: Whenever you go for an interview make sure you offer a firm handshake whenever required. Speak politely to the receptionist and anyone with whom you may interact at the interview venue.
  • Talking too much: No one likes a chatter-box and the lesser you talk the better during interviews.
  • Speaking negatively about ex-employers: Keep your emotions in tact and never speak against your past bosses or employers no matter how reasonable your complaints are. Speak positively about your past experiences in the various organizations you worked with earlier.
  • Asking about salary, perks and other benefits: It’s advisable not to ask about employee benefits during the first interview. In case you are too curious, you can discuss those things when you are sure that you have won the employer over.
